The California Active Transportation Data Portal (CAT Data Portal) was developed to collect, store, and visualize bicyclist, pedestrian, wheelchair, and other micromobility device volume counts for infrastructure and planning projects across California. This data portal is expected to serve the following purposes:
Register for a free account to access the tools and resources on the CAT Data Portal.
The CAT Data Portal builds off of previous regional resources for active transportation count data storage.
The University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) Lewis Center received funding from the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) to build the Bicycle Data Clearinghouse, a county-wide resource for collection and standardization of bicyclist count data for Los Angeles County municipalities.
Active Transportation Database (ATDB) was developed by SCAG to expand functionality and incorporate pedestrian count data.
SCAG and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) partnered to define the scope for an expanded statewide system to be developed by a university partner and owned by Caltrans.
ATDB was migrated to the UC Berkeley SafeTREC server for hosting while SafeTREC developed the new statewide system with additional functionalities.
